Pictures and videos from our wonderful
September 24th and 25th trail rides
Following more than a week of wet weather, the skies cleared and the sun warmed the shoulders of the riders who signed in at the registration table at Lost Canyon Ranch (located between Mancos and Dolores). The ACTHA-endorsed event to benefit Cadence was a ride over varied terrain throughout the ranch encountering several obstacles. Riders were either competing for prizes or just out to enjoy a day on the trail with like-minded souls.
Once all riders returned from the ride and their horses put up for the day, all gathered at the cook shack for the awards ceremony which was followed by a sumptuous dinner of barbequed rib-eye steaks and live music.
Our thanks to Scotty Cox who arranged for the event to be held at Lost Canyon Ranch. And of course, we owe a big shout-out to our generous sponsors including the Hillyer family, owners of Gem Village-based Southwest Ag (S.W.A.G.) for the loan of two ATV’s needed to transport volunteers to and from the obstacle sites; to Kelly’s Western Wear, Boot Barn, and Appaloosa Trading Company who provided awards given out to the winning riders. Thanks also to The Hydration Station who, for the third year in a row, provided large bottles of drinking water for our riders to knock down the trail dust.
